The wind blowing over the savannah, the fierce sun burning down on you and also there are faraway dots in the simmering haze. But what are they ? You drive your vehicle closer and see that the dots are but living and breathing animals – Wildebeest and Zebra. Unseen to your eyes, Lions slide through the grass and take down their prey. To me, this was Africa as I had seen on NGC and Discovery Channel in my childhood. Before coming to terms with the fact that the status of human beings across a l [...]

What an extraordinary book!A collection of real life stories from visitors to one of the most famous game reserves in the world. They will thrill you, frighten you and inspire you to go there and experience the remarkable Kruger for yourself. I spent most of the time reading this book with my heart in my mouth, even though I've been there several times. Always, in every story, there was this amazing connection between human and animal that you only get from being on your own in a place where the [...]

Learned a lot.Very interesting collection of articles compiled from actual accounts of things happening to them in Kruger National Park. There were some cool shots of some of the incidents with links to some videos. I am glad to have read it, but I don't think I would like to actually see some of the stories in real life.

I loved this book. It was so easy to dip in and out of. Probably best if you have visited the Kruger or one of the private reserves around the Kruger to get a full understanding. But it would also be good, if you're planning a trip to the Kruger. Some of the tales are unbelievable and others told with a sense of humour. It hasn't done anything to help my fear of being charged by a grumpy elephant!

I was fortunate enough to grow up across the river from the Kruger and have some wonderful memories. This book has some hair-raising stories, enough to send shivers down your spine. I enjoyed the book.

This book is a collection of stories about the Kruger National Park in South Africa. Each story is told by the people who experienced the events first hand – some of them are hilarious, some are barely believable and some will make you cringe in fear, but all of them capture the essence of South Africa’s most famous national park – it’s beauty, wildness and exceptional game viewing. Some of the stories are also accompanied by photographs, which further add to the enjoyment. The stories in [...]

After my very first visit ever to Kruger National Park this year, I was curious about other people’s adventures and bought this book as a little souvenir to take back home. There are amazing, moving, sad, hilarious and shocking true stories in it, all written by visitors of the Park. During reading, I laughed, almost cried and often found myself horrified by some of the stories in the book. I just couldn’t put it down! People who have been to Kruger National Park or are planning to visit it [...]

An absolutely wonderful book! If you have ever been to the Kruger park and wondered about whether other visitors have had better sightings than you then you need to read this book. It is bursting with amazing, unusual, funny, sad true stories submitted by just normal tourists who have been to Kruger. Each of the stories are short and easy to read so its easy to dip in and out of it. I found it so hard to put down and breezed through it in a few days. Some very interesting photos in the middle to [...]

This book will mainly appeal to those who have been on safari. Simply put it is as in the title - 101 accounts of noteworthy sightings and happenings from visitors to the Kruger National Park in South Africa. They are all brief - 1 - 6 pages so this is a book you can dip in and out of. There are a number of photographs that accompany some of the stories. Better still are the small number of videos that can be accessed through the internet.

An incredible collection of stories gathered from ordinary visitors to the Kruger Park. Many were so unbelievable, had I not seen the pictures, I would've thought they were wildly embellished. Others were frightening stories of close encounters, while more still could've been experienced by any one of us. All capture the beauty and excitement of visiting the reserve. A great read for anyone who loves this piece of SA paradise.

Started reading this book while in the Park. After nightmares for two nights I gave it up. Author does a good explanation that these kind of incident are rare, etc. BUT, getting up early for drives meant I needed a good nights sleep!

Easy read. Reminiscent of stories my father would tell me of his father and family visiting the camp and the hilarity that would ensue. I read this after immigrating to the middle east and it sits on my shelf as a constant reminder of the home I've left behind. Loved every page.

It is simply the most enjoyable book I have ever read! I just wish I could carry on having my dose of reading a few stories before bedtime for the rest of my life. In my opinion, it can rightly claim its place at the top of all Kruger Park books ever written!
