      Still Clutching Maps is a good first collection from Christina Butcher, a poet I hope we see more from. Butcher bears witness to her world: her time in the military, her Mexican-American heritage, her relationships in some very well-crafted lines. For example, in the poem titled “Go Kid” hold the line, “the suffocating heat and border patrol vans and corner stores / where you sister bought you dime bags and angry mothers / pinned you to the culture in a past-tense-run-on-run-kid-run- / RUN [...]
