This is a great suspense read with just a touch of romance. I enjoyed the setting having been born in Long Beach and recognized some of the street names Cantore used. Brinna Caruso is struggling with her job as a police officer, her burgeoning faith, and the possible loss of her K-9 partner, Hero. Known as the "kid crusader" for her interest in kidnappings due to her past experience, she often forges ahead instead of waiting and has gotten into trouble with her superiors. She now finds herself i [...]

Heart-in-throat suspense takes readers on a roller coaster ride of a read. The author's 22 year police service is evident in the police procedures, dialogue between officers and all the little details in between. It really makes for an edgier read. This is the second book in the series, and though it reads really well as a standalone, Brinna and Jack's relationship has slowly been building since book one. And slow is the operative word as the full development of their relationship won't be achie [...]

My first read by author Janice Cantore and definitely not my last!Police officer Brinna Caruso isn't one to follow the letter of the law. A feisty heroine with a loyal sidekick in her K-9 partner, Hero-- and well, let the trouble ensue. Brinna is passionate about serving the most vulnerable victims-- women and children. But when one choice she makes risks the life of a fellow officer her very ideology and continued service with the police department are put into question. Janice, I think like me [...]

Like the first book in this series, this book was a page turner. I enjoyed catching up with Brinna and Jack as they work together to solve the mystery of the dead girl. I found this book better than the first because they also explore their feelings for each other. Nice romantic angle in the midst of the suspense. (Full review at my website)

This one stands out above the others.I read a great deal and sometimes the books seem all too much alike. Just different character names and locations. I found this book to be a bit of fresh air. I enjoyed the plot and the characters.

VISIBLE THREAT and CRITICAL PURSUIT are fast-paced novels that do a good job of balancing crime with camaraderie in the ranks of the Long Beach Police DepartmentVISIBLE THREAT-Officer Brinna Caruso is a K-9 handler known as the go-to cop when a child goes missing. Unfortunately, her gung-ho behavior has gotten her into hot water when she avoids direct orders because of the greater good. She doesn’t see herself as a rogue officer, she just has a hard time backing down when she knows a child is [...]

My whole family gets excited about a new Janice Cantore release. We we so happy to open the package from Tyndale and find Visible Threat inside!Chapter one, all nine pages of it, drop us right into Brinna's life. This savvy cop who never gives up on an abducted child and who never gives in when pursuing a perpetrator is in the middle of one of those pursuits. A previous offender on parole has lured away a fourteen year old girl over the internet, then kidnapped her at their meeting place in the [...]

I liked Visible Threat even more than Critical Pursuit. While they were both good I was sucked in more by the story line of Visible Threat. I had a professor in college that talked a lot about social injustice and problems like human trafficking so this book really resonated with me.I loved reading more about Brinna and Jack too and I hope that Cantore writes at least one more book about them! In the first book Brinna was just starting to come around to the idea of a relationship with Jesus Chri [...]

After a floater is found down by the river, Brinna is called in with Hero to see if they can track down where she came from. Visible Threat is a high-speed chase thriller. Janice Cantore does a great job delivering a good story with great characters. This is the first book I have read by Janice Cantore but I guarantee it will not be the last. Officer Brinna Caruso is on a mission. She is set on trying to save and protect all the innocents in the world, no matter what it cost. She and her partner, Hero, a K-9 police dog, track down offenders and help bring them to justice. Ivana and her sister, Villie, have come to Ame [...]

This is probably not a book I would typically pick up as I don’t read a lot of suspense/police fiction, but when I saw it dealt with the subject of human-trafficking, I was interested because that is a matter that has caught my attention and pulled at my heart.I was pleasantly engrossed into “Visible Threat” immediately. I very much appreciate that the author is a former police officer therefore giving authenticity to her writing. It was very real, and well-written. The characters were ver [...]

When we last saw police officer Brinna Caruso in Critical Pursuit, she and her temporary partner Jack O’Reilly were busy saving kids from a child abductor. Now she’s back along with her K-9 partner, Hero. When Jack asks her for help taking down a human trafficking organization, Brinna jumps at the chance to save more girls and spend more time with a certain ex-partner of hers. When I read Critical Pursuit, I described the story as being explosive and the characters real. Visible Threat does n [...]

I haven't read a lot of Janice Cantore's books because this is only the fifth one she has had published, but I have enjoyed all five of them. This book is a sequel to Critical Pursuit, and the two books should be read in order, as the second one picks up pretty close to where the first left off, and it also refers to events that happened in the first book. The plot for this book revolves around human trafficking, and although it isn't the first book I have read dealing with that crime, I still f [...]

Visible Threat is the latest police thriller written by Janice Cantore, a veteran Long Beach police officer herself. This is book two in her latest series, which follows police officer Brinna Caruso. Brinna is a kidnap/abuse survivor herself, so she wants to make sure no other girl is kidnapped and abused like she was as a child. Along with her police dog Hero, she works to eliminate crime. In this book, she's caught up with former partner Jack O'Reilly into a dangerous mystery involving a murde [...]

When it comes to Christian Crime fiction I would have to say that Janice Cantore is top notch and is quickly becoming my favorite author in that genre because of her well developed characters and the authenticity of her books (not a small wonder since she is a retired cop).I was beyond excited when I received my copy of the 2nd book in the Critical Pursuit series and it certainly did not disappoint! I have to say that I like the Critical Pursuit series even better than the Pacific Coast Justice [...]

Officer Brinna may want perfection, but this book sadly falls short. The wordy, disjointed writing detracts greatly from the plot. As an example, someone says to Brinna after she saved her friend who was kidnapped "Thank you that you took Gracie seriously and that you saved Nikki." The characters fell flat, and in addition the self talk about searching for the peace that Brinna's mom and Jack had seemed redundant after a while. The author is also overly descriptive about things which I felt slow [...]

Visible Threat is a mind-captivating read about Officer Brinna Caruso who holds a dark secret from childhood. She is idealistic to the point where she wants the world to be perfect and justice to always prevail. As an officer, her main mission is to protect those she deems innocent and she is willing to do just about anything to do so. When a dead girl with a tattoo is found in a river, Brinna is on the case when Detective Jack O’Reilly asks for her assistance. During their investigation, they [...]

Amazing! I loved this book. This is the second book in the Critical Pursuit series, and it is just as good, if not better, than the first. The two books should definitely be read in order, otherwise some parts of this book may not make sense. I loved that this book spoke to the topic of human trafficking. It is a problem in today's society, but not one many people know a lot about, so it was nice to see a book touching on that topic, especially from a police officer's point of view.I loved that [...]

Brinna Caruso is an amazing cop with a hunger to catch the criminals, especially those who target children. She has an aggressive attitude and is a very good cop. Even though sometimes her ways go against her superior. She struggles with how can a God who loves us allow bad things to happen to good people. Will she ever be able to understand what God is showing her? Once the case she is working on turns personal can she find a way to save those she loves the most? And will her co-worker be able [...]

4.5 starsWhat a great suspense novel! Janice Cantore is a former police officer, so her books always ring true. I felt that was even more the case with Visible Threat than her previous books. Visible Threat is fast-paced yet believable with the amount of action. I was intrigued by the human trafficking aspect as well, since that seems to be front and center with the media these days. There were a couple of places that I thought the explanations were a little trite. Wouldn't police officers be aw [...]

This was another great book by Janice Cantore. She continues the story of Brinna, adding in a touch of romance along with Brinna's continual search for God. Brinna continues to wrestle with the question of how God can allow evil to happen in the world, but does have to realize that her abduction at the age of 6 made her into a much stronger, more compassionate police officer. In this book, she has to deal with her mother's abduction and starts to do a bit of praying on her own. I just really thi [...]

I actually liked this book better than the first book in the series. This, being book two, has the same lead character Brinna. I followed her on this book in finding young women who have been imported into a type of slave trade, mainly pleasing men. After a dead body is found a few different stories come together to track down the man behind the scenes. This book is a lot like a few books I've read, the girls, they have tattoos, they have no idea what they are getting into. This book took a diff [...]

Visible Threat by Janice Cantore was AMAZING!! If you've read any of my other reviews on her books then you'll already know how much I love her writing. All of her books are on my favorite shelf right next to my other favorite Christian Crime fiction authors like Dee Henderson. If you love Dee's books your sure to love Janice's books. They're wonderful! I really love the characters that Janice brings to life in her books and the very real problems those characters face. I also love the fact that [...]

I liked the continuing story of Brinna and Jack from Critical Pursuit. I do suggest reading that before this one so you can really understand the characters but the suspense storyline is completely separate. This story is about Brinna and Jack and their investigation of a human trafficking ring. The topic is difficult but I felt that the author was realistic in her portrayal. While I rated the first of the series 5 stars, I would give this 4.5 overall. The suspense is a five but I was wishing Br [...]

Visible Threat is book 2 in the series featuring Brinna and her K9, Hero. Visible Threat is gripping, compelling, gritty, and intense. Even though Visible Threat can be read alone I highly recommend reading them in order. You will appreciate Brinna’s personal growth more if you read them in order and Jack’s too. Brinna is dealing with a possible reprimand from disobeying an order, losing funding for Hero which means losing her partner, and the consequences from saving a girl from the river. [...]
